On Wednesday, October 28, 2009, President Obama signed into law the FY10 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill. Specifically, the law extends the non-minister religious worker program, the �Conrad 30� program, the EB-5 visa program, and the E-Verify program through September 30, 2012.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City has suspended processing of the approximately 5100 non-immigrant visa appointments scheduled Monday, April 27 through Wednesday, April 29. In the US, All USCIS offices remain open for business. Applicants should plan to attend all previously scheduled appointments, interviews and ceremonies unless they are feeling ill. It seems that re scheduling due to illness is a perfectly acceptable reason.
There are no reports of problems to enter the US from Mexico, no refusals due to Swine Flu issues as of now. But this may well change as the issue develops.

Hi,
My Case: EB3-I, PD=5/2004, I-140 Approved, July 07 filer.
Being infected by COTLS, I checked my status @USCIS.gov (as EAD filed, end of May (Paper based)@TSC- NO movement as of today.) I got a soft LUD on 7/13 on my already approved I-140 (approved mid of 2006).
I had earlier read a thread where people were talking about LUD on their cases dated 7/13/08. I was surprised as I am EB3-I.
Anybody has insight on this case? Any comments?
I will go take a chill pill as of now (to try to get rid of COLTS).

Hello,
I Need an advise on my H1-B extension.
I came to USA on on L1 Visa in 2003/March and I was on same visa till Dec/2003. ( 9 months).
In 2004 Jan I filed H1-B and my status changed from L1 to H1-B. Again I filed 2nd extension (for next 3 years) on this H1-B and I got this approval upto given till 2010 Jan.
My question here is can I wait upto current H1 - B approval validity even though total stay on L1 + H1-B is exceeding the 6 yrs ?
OR do I need apply for H1-B extension on my approved I-140 (curently in 485 stage of my GC) to get 3 more years extension as 2010 Jan will be my 7th year in USA ?

There has been an error in the processing of my I-130 petition for my mother. It was approved and now I am being asked to submit form I-485 or form I-824. The problem is that my mother is not and has never been to the US. I called CIS and talked to a representative about the error. She said she would send a letter to the CIS about it and that I should hear back from CIS in 5 days. I am just wondering if this timeline is realistic or I should expect it to take more time. Should I contact my senator and ask for assistance in facilitating this process? Would hiring a lawyer expedite this process? I know that the petition should then go to the NVC. Would a lawyer help?

My H1B Visa stamp expires in Jan 08 but H1B Status expires Sept 08. Is it too early to get a new H1B stamp 4 months before expiration of the H1B stamp I currently have.
I am planning to go to Ottawa now for a stamp that expires in Sept 08.

Visa stamp doesnt define your legal status or your stay period ,it is the latest I 94 . Visa stamp is only required when u travel outside the country.

Folks,
I am trying to put together documents for my wife's 485 application. The birth certificate was re-issued a couple of years back (with corrections to her mother's name and including her last name which was missing earlier).
The lawyer says we need to put a good reason down for 'why a corrected birth certificate was not obtained until now'.
Do you guys know of a good reason to provide USCIS? Know of any reason which was accepted in case of your friends?
Please do advise. Thanks!

Yes ..I recently came back via Brussels to Chicago...I used my AP...No issues in Brussels....
