Please change these security lapses thing. You might be hurting yourselves in the long run. If You are thinking that this is not a big issue in DOS/USCIS, You are mistaken. This is a hot button issue in both agencies. Focus on quality of life issues and other losses incurred. Do not play with security. Its going to come back and hurt us. Please Go ahead and change these security lapse crap.

Agree. I still blame name check 180 rule - a major decision by USCIS/FBI helped this backlogg to go from bad to worst.
Name check 180 rule -it allowed thousands of people from EB1 / EB2 Row to get their 485 cleared and consumed major chunk of 2008/09 EB visas. Had it been not there, many old timers, would have used visas as their Name check would have been cleared before them.
Oh yeah, I hear you; I personally know many of my ex-colleagues in a big IT sourcing company who came to US in L1A got their GC through EB1 category within a matter of 6-8 months.....last years 180 rule change does benefit most of these fortunate guys.....

They most of the approvals are of US Master degree and above as it is straight fwd EB2 no need to verify skill set etc..
My wife and I, we both have MS from US unversities....I think that's straight forward!!! But still waiting....:(

How much time does one really need to prepare to file for labor these days ,please let me know. The time before filing the labor, if everything goes very fast.

Even though one wants to push too fast, I think there are certain duration one has to wait in each step before goes to the next step (this is just based on my knowledge and I may be wrong). It takes around 6 months minimum I think. Good luck for your process.

This is nothing but a typical desi mentality coming out from all of us. We all want to get everything for free or at a discount. Each dollar is saved to be transferred to India or to buy larger flat screen TV than our friends at home. :)

We can't just poke around an established government agency because we feel they are not doing their job properly.
What do you (You refers to people who think above, not one in particular) say about the people who filed lawsuit and got the 180 day Name check rule to implementation faster? Not that I am proposing lawsuits, just an example to disprove what you said.
I am trying to figure out what you guys are trying to say. If you guys think that CIS will give you the GC on the day they will feel like and you are cool with it, Why even hopping around boards either for information or anything. Just follow the processing times and see whether number has been called or not. 99% of the crowd thinks here that we can get a better policy by making our voice heard. Senate just passed the border bill which also applies the new 50-50 rule with additional fee for companies having employees on H1/L1 visa.
The bill is now headed for President's signature for making this the law of the land.

Why not do a flower campaign or the like, that we did last time? Clearly that worked and the phone campaign doesnt "have the appearance" of working. I am not saying it is not working, it just isint having the same media impact as last time. It doesnt have to be the flower campaign again, heck we can do a fruit basket deal this time.
Our message should be "Please stop punishing people that came here the right way, in order to help the people that did not". We are not against undocumented workers getting amnesty, we just dont want their issues to hold up everyone else's.
There are reasons we MUST NOT do anything like that. Lobbying works on the long run. These days lawmmakers are more informed about the situation and it is just a matter of time.
Do not lose hope - we will succeed.
Please convince your friends and coworkers to make phone calls and visits to law makers offices.

There was a campaign on wrongful denial in AC21 , there was also letter campaign not sure what happened after that ? It was IV action item too... What was the conclusion ? should we all suffer even if it is a training issue, if they act such nice on letters , then why they act as if there is no form and if AC21 is for real aliens from a real alien world.

Are you sure it was Atlanta and not Chicago?. Your timeline suggests it was applied in Chicago.
My company applied for PERM ALC EB-2 category at Atlanta on 18th June 2007, got it approved on 20th June. Received hard copy on 26th June.

First of all i want to say is nixstor cool down, you dont have to use bad words to say anything, even though you spell wrong people can read it right.
The whole name check system itself not working properly, everybody knows it, there are criminals who got clearance and there are innocents stuck for years, so its a chance to make FBI think about their system.
Yeah, tell me the same thing when all of us will wait for 6 or 7 years if they dont fix the system and continue to do security check on us. We know that we are NOT bad people. Its difficult to prove that in existing conditions. People are paranoid about every thing right now.

Congratulation to 9years and Vayumahesh. Thank you both for documenting your journey. My EB2 perm was applied from the new company i have joined and it is approved this month. Hopefully i should be applying for I-140 next month.
I have applied my 485 in July 07 but i was not married at that time. I am married now and my my wife is on H1B. When should i add her or amend my I-485.

I'm not saying we don't have rights, but what you are asking are the internal workings of a government agency.
You can't even vote. You can't even just change employers without hassle. You can't even just leave the country and come without proper documents. You can't even apply for a student loan. You can be deported any time you have a problem. You can't even renew your driver's license without showin proof of proper residency.
Even with GC your rights are still not as good as a US citizen.
Yes we do have rights.
But the government is only answerable to a certain level. You cannot ask for information of the internal workings of a government. That's not going to happen.
We are the USCIS's customers. They wouldn't exist without us. We have a right to make sure that they are being run effectively and efficiently. They have a responsibility to be transparent in their operations, because without that transparency there can be no accountability.
